Football Bundesliga club FC Augsburg must for now do without coach Markus Weinzierl.
The 47-year-old was positively tested for the coronavirus and is in domestic quarantine. After a positive rapid test that occurred on Sunday in the daily testing of the team, the result had been confirmed by a PCR test, the club announced on Tuesday. Weinzierl is thus missing on Saturday at the home game against the SC Freiburg. His responsibilities are taken over by the co-trainers Reiner Maurer, Tobias Zellner and Jonas Scheuermann.
“We’ve clearly divided the tasks within the coaching team, so preparing for the game and the processes on the matchday are the best possible way without me. I have fully confidence in my coaching team and the team that will master this situation together”, ” said Weinzierl, which has light cold symptoms.
Another member of the function team was also positively tested. All other tests of players and members of the coaching and function team had been negative, it was said.
